Anheuser-Busch announced Thursday that it would spend $10 million to upgrade its brewery outside Williamsburg.
Rick Shippey, general manager of the brewery, said it was too early to say whether that would expand its workforce, which he said numbers "a couple of hundred" people.

The History channel is preparing to develop a miniseries on Jamestown, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The series is inspired by Benjamin Woolley’s book, “Savage Kingdom: The True Story of Jamestown, 1607, and the Settlement of America.”
John Shiban is reportedly the executive producer on the project. He is known for “Hell on Wheels.”

Colonial Williamsburg is preparing to host its annual Grand Illumination.
The illuminations will begin on Sunday when candles are lit in the windows of public buildings, shops and residences. A fireworks program will follow that will be presented simultaneously at three sites throughout Colonial Williamsburg.

A 71-year-old woman died Thursday night when her vehicle ran off Interstate 64 and hit a tree at the West Point exit.
The crash was reported about 10:35 p.m. at mile marker 227, according to a Virginia State Police news release. Yvonne K. Randall was headed west in a Mercury Sable when the crash happened.

A 54-year-old woman has died in a single-vehicle crash.
James City County police were called to the crash in the 7800 block of Church Lane in the Lake Toano subdivision shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release. The driver, Rebecca Denise Skinner of James City County, was taken to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center where she died.
